Overview

South Hampshire College Group was formed on 1 August 2023 following the merger of Fareham College, Eastleigh College and City College.

PMc supported the Group in producing an Estate Strategy which underpinned the merger, the strategy was developed to support the future curriculum and financial model for the new Group. The strategy was developed with the support of the agreed vision for the new College as follows:

  1. Create ‘Centres of Excellence’ through better distributed, more coherent FE offer; accessible but financially efficient.
  2. Raise aspirations by increasing the Level 3 professional and technical offer within Southampton and by developing a strong HE in FE offer across the region through HTQ’s in the IoT development.
  3. Deliver social mobility by improving progression through levels and increasing access points to adult education, training and reskilling.
  4. Simplify and improve employer access to skills training through better distributed apprenticeship offer.
  5. Provide strategic investment in estate and facilities in increase participation in and benefit from professional and technical education.

The merger received a positive endorsement from students, parents, staff and local employers in the public consultation phase, this played a key part in the group getting the go-ahead from the Department for Education.

South Hampshire College Group has an important role in supporting the acquisition of skills, promotion of learning and supporting the cultural and social development in the towns of Fareham and Southampton and their surrounding areas.

South Hampshire College Group appointed PMc as Client Advisors, Project Managers and Cost Consultants for the delivery of the merger portfolio of projects. The projects consist demolition works, creation of Centre of Excellences via internal refurbishment projects, T Level refurbishment projects and Institute of Technology works, condition related works (façade replacement, roof replacements, internal MEP upgrades), external carparking and landscaping works.
