Business Case & Funding Bids

We are highly experienced at working with FE and HE institutions to develop strong bids, from expressions of interest to full business cases.

We take a structured approach to bid writing, taking time to fully understand the funding body guidance and the deliverables required. The bid writer then agrees responsibilities with the wider team, working in partnership with the project sponsor and drawing upon our shared expertise to:

Curriculum – determine the curriculum offer and the outcome and outputs;

Finance and cost – complete cost estimates, cash flows and investment appraisals;

Design – work with or without a design team to develop designs and produce illustrations to support the bid;

Programme – produce initial project programmes and Gantt charts;

Risk – generating risk management plans and risk registers;

Estates– producing and updating estates strategies;

Legal – ensuring compliance with relevant policy and procuring state aid advise; and,

Evaluation – creating monitoring and evaluation frameworks.

We have written successful funding bids and or supported the development of business cases to support the following projects:

  • South Bank Colleges – £22.5m;
  • CETC – £3m;
  • The Henley College – £1m;
  • City & Islington College – £13m;
  • Tower Hamlet’s Town Hall – £115m;
  • CEMAST – £12m;
  • Fareham College Bishopsfield Road – £15m;

  • Fareham College T Levels – £1m.

Business Case & Funding Bids Projects

“Peter and the team worked with us to develop a long-term estates strategy for the college and to complete business cases and bids for two rounds of capital funding. The team were a joy to work with from start to finish. They very quickly grasped the distinctive culture and values of our organisation, and reflected this throughout the documentation and in all interactions. They managed to complete a vast amount of in-depth research in a very short timeframe, including establishing the condition and utilisation of all aspects of our multi-building and multi-site estate. They presented a range of creative options to us; challenging our thinking and helping us to see the potential in our current and proposed buildings. Having established our preferred options, they then completed high-quality bids, fully aligned to the funding body guidance and the deliverables required. Whether or not the bids are successful, I am proud to say that we now have a comprehensive Estates Strategy that will guide the future development of the estate to support our curriculum vision and strategy.”
